DRUMS CIRCLE ON MASHUJAA DAY

The renowned African instrumentalist, Kake Wakake, was invited to lead a captivating Drum Circle at Adventure Farm in celebration of Mashujaa Day on Sunday, October 20th. Known for his mastery of traditional Luo instruments, such as the Nyatiti, Gara, Oduong’o, and Nyiduonge Drums, Kake Wakake’s music embodies the essence of cultural heritage. His performance, which celebrated not only Kenya’s heroes but also the beauty of African musical traditions, set the perfect tone for the day’s festivities.

 

Mashujaa Day, a national holiday in Kenya, is dedicated to honoring the heroes who fought for the country’s independence. The word Mashujaameans Heroes in Swahili, and this day is a tribute to the brave men and women who made significant sacrifices in Kenya’s fight for freedom. With this rich history in mind, Adventure Farm curated a celebration that embraced the cultural importance of the day, blending music, storytelling, and traditional activities to engage guests in a meaningful way.

 

The intervals of drumming were paired with captivating storytelling sessions, featuring tales of legendary Kenyan figures such as Mekatilili wa Menza and Luanda Magere. These stories, told by narrators, highlighted the resilience and courage of Kenya’s historical heroes, enriching the day with lessons of bravery and unity.

 

Guests were also treated to Adventure Farm’s signature farm-fresh menu, including the popular Triple B Smoothie, which was a hit among attendees. The farm's commitment to the farm-to-fork dining experience allowed everyone to enjoy fresh, farm grown sourced meals that added to the celebration’s authentic Kenyan flavor. The day’s activities also included ziplining and a guided farm tour, offering a fun and adventurous way for guests to connect with nature while celebrating their heritage.
